Our Project
We are going to the Animal Shelter and taking pictures of the animals available for adoption every week. We try to help homeless dogs and cats get homes.
We made donation cans to try to generate more money for the shelter. We went to local businesses and asked them to allow us to place the cans in their stores.
We were very excited that we were allowed to sort dog and cat food for the animals. 11/28/98
February was National Spay Month. We are put the finishing touches on our collection cans. We made a total of 21 cans. The community was advised of our need for cans through a local radio show. 1/24/99
Here are some of the businesses that are supporting the Fort Scott Animal Shelter, the Friends of the Fort Scott Animal Shelter, and our efforts to raise money. Thank you for allowing us to place our collection cans in your businesses.
Our fund raising efforts allowed the Friends of the Animal Shelter to paint the facility and will provide certificates for reduced cost spaying and neutering of adopted animals. We are proud that we raised $300 (with the addition of a possible $42 match from Wal-Mart) in our small community. We increased public awareness of the needs of the Friends and we continue to promote responsible pet ownership.

In Conclusion
I like to go to the Animal Shelter. I like to see all of the dogs and cats. My favorite thing is petting them. It makes me sad that they don't have homes. I hope someone will adopt them all.

People like pets and buy or adopt them. There are only so many homes available for pets. Pets need to be spayed or neutered so there aren't unwanted puppies and kittens.
Unlike wild animals, cats and dogs are domestic animals and are dependent upon people to meet their needs for food and shelter. If there are too many pets some will roam the streets, some carry disease, and many are destroyed.
We all need to be responsible pet owners. We need to control our pets and have them spayed or neutered.
